WHAT IS JOB SHADOWING?
Job Shadowing is a great opportunity for LSA students like you to gain eye-opening, firsthand insights as you “taste test” professions you are interested in pursuing after graduation. By observing industry professionals perform the daily tasks of their roles, you’ll gain a deeper, more-informed understanding of career fields and the various roles within that field. This immersive experience will grant you one to two full days of work experience with a professional in the field.
THE BENEFITS OF JOB SHADOWING
By participating in a job shadow, you can:
- Gain first-hand exposure to different professions and industries
- Develop skills that can be transferred to future roles
- Bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and in-the-field experience
- Apply what you learn in a future professional setting
- Build relationships and expand your network
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR JOB SHADOWING?
In order to sign up for a Job Shadow opportunity, students must submit an application on LSA Engage. Visit the Events tab in order to explore available opportunities.
If a student is selected, they will also take part in an interview with a member of the Hub’s Employer Engagement team. As students are submitting their application, they will also have the opportunity to rank organizations and companies based on their preference for Job Shadow placement.
Please note: placement for Job Shadow opportunities will be determined based on alignment of your academic year and major as well as the recruiting needs of the employer. As these opportunities change every year, details on which companies are participating this academic year are available in the application.
