UM Linguistics Professor Andries Coetzee Nominated as Next Editor of Language!
Andries Coetzee joined the Department of Linguistics in 2004 as a Language Learning Visiting Assistant Research Professor. He is now an associate professor, the associate chair of the Department of Linguistics, and the director of graduate studies. His research interests cover formal phonological theory, phonetics, speech processing, and the interface between these research areas. Andries’ nomination is subject to confirmation, which will take place later this fall.
UM has a longstanding relationship with the Linguistic Society of America (LSA), hosting more LSA Linguistic Institutes than any other academic institution in North America! One of the former editors includes UM Professor Sally Thomason. Department Chair and Linguistics Professor Robin Queen is a current member of the LSA’s governing board (Executive Committee).
