While social distancing may prevent students and faculty from gathering in person, the Linguistics Department is excited to celebrate the highlights and accomplishments of the graduating class of 2020--virtually!
We invite you to enjoy our Linguistics graduation 2020 web page and watch a video featuring Linguistics faculty and students.
Relax with family members as you watch the video, which features opening remarks by Associate Professor Ezra Keshet, Director of Undergraduate Studies, followed by a special address by Linguistics Professor and Chair Robin Queen, who offers comments during a time when “we find ourselves living life in ways that we couldn’t imagine...”
Sneak preview: For linguists, Professor Queen says it’s a time “when our collective fascination with the quotidian mysteries of language has shifted from face-to-face encounters to wholly new mechanisms of exploration and consideration.”
Listen to remarks by student speakers Kara Genther and Matthew Eby, highlighted next on the Linguistics video, followed by a scrolling presentation of the names of all 50 graduating seniors, and congratulatory remarks by Linguistics faculty.
The Linguistics graduation video and web page complement the virtual U-M Spring Celebration 2020 taking place throughout the day on Saturday, May 2.
Congratulations and Go Blue!
