Bouavichith receives 2018 Deborah Keller-Cohen Award
Dominique Bouavichith has been awarded the 2018 Deborah Keller-Cohen Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. This new $500 award is an early-career teaching award for Linguistics graduate student instructors. Dominique is a third-year PhD student, focusing on phonetics and sociolinguistics. He is currently working on a perceptual sociophonetics project about individual variation and social identity.
The Department of Linguistics recently created the Deborah Keller-Cohen Award. Professor Keller-Cohen is Professor of Linguistics, Women's Studies, and Education, and former Rackham Associate Dean for Humanities and the Arts. In naming the award in her honor, the Department recognizes Professor Keller-Cohen's own stellar undergraduate teaching in Linguistics, as well as her profound commitment to training and mentoring Linguistics graduate student instructors.
