During the summer of 2012, FTVM '14 graduate Maryam Squillace was a PR intern at NBC News in New York City. There she scoured the media for mentions of NBC News and MSNBC, and helped the publicists with their research on pitching their stories. She also worked with the social media team on the Today Show’s Friday concert series by spreading the hashtag around social media, and being on the plaza on the day of.
During fall 2012 and winter 2013, she interned at the Cinetopia International Film Festival in Ann Arbor. She got to work on all aspects of the festival – programming, booking the films, researching other local festivals, and bringing guests to the festival.
During the summer of 2013, she interned at Allied Integrated Marketing in NYC. There she worked with the publicists to promote films like Despicable Me 2, Jobs, and Man of Steel. She helped supervise promotional screenings and events for the film.
