About
I am a Ph.D. candidate in English and Education at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In addition to my studies, I work as an engaged learning consultant at Ginsberg, our campus's civic and community engagement center.
My current research explores the intersection of linguistics and writing studies, with a particular focus on Critical Language Awareness (CLA) theory and pedagogy. My dissertation examines multilingual and multidialectal students' writing attitudes and how these students experience instructors' written feedback.
At the center of my work is a commitment to student experiences, particularly those of linguistically diverse students in Southern California, where I grew up and began my teaching career. As a first-generation student myself, I am especially interested in how classroom practices, including instructor feedback, shape students’ sense of belonging, confidence, and agency as writers.
