About
Chandrica Barua has an MSc in Medieval Literatures and Cultures from the University of Edinburgh, UK, and a BA (Hons.) in English from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, India. Her research is situated within transtemporal and inter-imperial coloniality studies spanning the Early Modern to the Postcolonial with thematic focuses on objects, race, gender, embodiment, and empire's afterlives. She has held research assistantships under UNESCO, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), Government of Japan. She is also a creative writer and translator; her recent work “Stories by the Fire on a Winter Evening” (feminist retellings of Assamese folktales) was published by Zubaan Books, India, and SPF, Japan.
