Tracy Wolfson and Benjamin Rosof

"It was the weekend of a lifetime. Thanks to Tracy Wolfson and the Comm and Media department, I got to live my dream career for a couple days. I am now even more motivated to pursue this work professionally and make as many connections as I can." - Benjamin Rosof

Tracy Wolfson is a Communication and Media Alumna and four-time Emmy Award-nominated reporter for CBS Sports. Each fall she hosts a shadowship where a Communication and Media major can witness first hand what goes into the production of a major sports event.

Television production of live sporting events is exciting and fast paced. While there have never been more opportunities to break into sports media, the competition has also never been higher. This immersive internship was created to help our comm major differentiate themselves and get a leg up on their competition.

During this 2-3 day immersive internship, the chosen comm and media major will get to experience:

  • Preparation for Game DayGame
  • Day production
  • Post-game production

The student will get a unique opportunity to see an in-depth look at how on air personalities create their content to behind-the-scenes shadowing of production staff and on air talent. They will get a first-hand look at the careers and professions they hope to pursue.

Tracy Wolfson and Jaden Fode (2024)

I was honored to be selected for the Tracy Wolfson Shadowship which took place in November 2024. I had the opportunity to attend the Ravens vs Broncos game in Baltimore, Maryland with Tracy and the NFL on CBS crew. After a seamless application process, thanks to the Communication and Media Department who provided accessible communication throughout, I was chosen by Tracy to accompany her for the weekend. During the experience, I had the chance to attend meetings with players and coaches, meet Tracy’s amazing team that she works with on a weekly basis, and get an inside look on what a career as an NFL sideline reporter looks like. As an aspiring sideline reporter myself, it was an invaluable experience. Having Tracy as a mentor is something I will never take for granted. This was truly one of the best experiences of my life and I am so grateful to Tracy and the Michigan Communication and Media Department for offering such an incredible opportunity! - Jaden Fode
