Dr. Apryl Williams, Assistant Professor in the Department of Comunication and Media and the Digital Studies Institute, was recently quoted in The Huffington Post. In the article, titled, "These Are The Drastic Steps Trans People Are Taking To Stay Safe When Dating," Williams' recent collaboration with the app Feeld is discussed in reference to the ways trans people's feelings of safety, and how they seek safe ways to engage in romantic relationships.
Dr. Williams is quoted, "Digital spaces can offer safer opportunities for self-exploration and connection, but only when built with intentionality and equity." She then goes on to say, "Online platforms like Feeld demonstrate that when apps are designed with marginalised communities in mind, they not only create inclusive environments but also redefine how safer intimacy can be cultivated in a hybrid world."
