Help Room and Resources

The Physics Help Room will be offered in-person for Fall 2021! Graduate Student Instructors will host their hours in-person. Course Instructors and Learning Assistants will have a mix of in-person or online hours depending on course needs. Please click the button below to view the new Help Room schedule. You will need to be signed in with your University of Michigan Google account to view the schedule. 

The Physics Department has the following resources available for students taking introductory physics courses:

  • Physics Help Room (1416 Randall Lab)
    • Graduate students, undergraduate students, and faculty are available to help students who are taking Introductory Physics classes (150/151; 250/251; 140/141; 240/241)
    • The Help Room hours of operation vary by term and are subject to change. The hours for the Fall 2021 term are:
      • Opens for the term on Tuesday, September 7 at 10:00 AM and closes on Monday, December 13 at 7:30 PM
      • Closed for Fall Break (October 18 and 19) and Thanksgiving Break (November 24-26)
      • The Help Room is generally open Monday-Thursday from 10:00 am - 9:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern Time
    • Current schedule is posted through the link above
  • Problem Roulette 
  • Society of Physics Students (SPS)
    • Student run organization for anyone interested in physics
    • Offers tutoring in the Physics Help Room during the fall and winter terms
    • Find a list of private physics tutors on the SPS tutoring website

In addition, there is also the Science Learning Center (1720 Chemistry) that provides study groups for intro physics courses.
