Keynote Speaker
Anna, a Michigan native and first-generation college student, began her academic journey at Macomb Community College before transferring to the University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2012. She went on to complete her Ph.D. at Harvard Medical School in 2019, conducting research with Luk Vandenberghe on host and viral factors involved in adeno-associated viral (AAV) capsid assembly.
For her postdoctoral training, she joined Robert Tjian’s lab at UC Berkeley to study how cells regulate AAV-delivered DNA. Now leading her own independent research group, Anna continues to explore AAV vector biology, focusing on host cell interactions. Alongside her scientific work, Anna is deeply committed to increasing diversity in biomedical research. She is passionate about supporting community college students by raising awareness of research careers and mentoring them through the transfer process to four-year institutions in pursuit of STEM degrees.
