About
Hi there! My name is Kevin Wen and I am a senior studying Mechanical Engineering. I was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, but grew up in Stony Brook, New York. After I graduate in 2021, I plan on pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and then I’ll see where the road takes me. I became involved with UROP during my sophomore year by working in the Zopf Lab developing a simulator for the Veau Class II Cleft Palate. After my UROP Project ended, I applied to become a Peer Facilitator and have stayed as one because I’ve loved helping new students become adjusted to college life. On campus, I am involved with Northrop Grumman’s Solar Truss Team through the MDP Program and with the Steel Bridge Team. I love to play music and it helps me distress after a week of classes. I’ve played the alto saxophone and piano for many years and now I started to learn guitar during quarantine to help pass the time. I love to grow my own food in my raised bed back and travel to different countries for their amazing cuisine, history, and scenic views. Although I haven’t done much traveling this summer with the pandemic happening, I hope to continue exploring the world whenever possible. This semester will be quite the interesting one for freshmen especially and I hope that I can help make the remote experience go smoothly. Don’t stress too much and I am looking forward to meeting all the new UROP students! Feel free to ask me any questions that you have!
