About
Katherine is a senior from Flint, Michigan studying Sociology with a special interest in labor and economic sociology. In the summer of 2017 Katherine began her UROP journey by participating in the Community College Summer Fellowship Program. She worked on the Title IX Project within the Sociology Department. The Title IX project investigates if and how US colleges and universities are upholding this federal mandate for Schools to uphold an 'environment free of sex-discrimination.' She enjoyed the project so much that she contined with it during the 2017-2918 academic year through the Changing Gears Program. Katherine is grateful to be a Peer Facilitator, because she can now help students achieve their research and academic goals through UROP as she did. Katherine founded and served as President of the the Feminist and Social Justice student organizations at Mott Community College. She is a Planning Board member at the Spectrum Center and is excited about completing a Senior Thesis this year.
