For nearly 50 years, the UMMAA held in its collections the remains of a young woman—a tribal ancestor—found in Arenac County during construction. Thanks to the work of the Museum’s Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) staff, those remains were reburied in September at the Ziibiwing Center of Anishinabe Culture and Lifeways in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
