UMMAA at 100: Michigan's Mark - Past, Present, Future

The University of Michigan Museum of Anthropological Archaeology (UMMAA) was founded in 1922. Over the course of a century, its curators, students, and staff have made indelible marks on archaeological theory and practice, the world over.

At the “UMMAA at 100” conference we celebrated these accomplishments, considered the current state of the discipline, and chart edpossible futures. Where has archaeology been, where is it going? What roles will UMMAA and its legacy play in defining archaeology for the next 100 years?

UMMAA's international conference took place September 29-October 2, 2022.
