In late August 2026, the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology opened a new permanent gallery for the first time in nearly twenty years. The new gallery, “The Byzantine and Islamic Worlds: 400–1800," explores the experiences and everyday lives of people in the eastern Mediterranean, North Africa, and the Middle East with a display of more than 100 objects, many of which have never before been on permanent display.
