The UMMAA Brown Bag Lecture Series is pleased to present a lecture by Arsim Canolli, director of the Institute of Anthropology and associate professor of anthropology at the University of Prishtina, Kosova. His lecture, "Musealizing Atrocity: Memory, Heritagization and Exhibition Practices in Post-War Kosova," will be held on Friday, September 26, 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the School of Education Building, Room 1322. This lecture examines the Krusha e Madhe Massacre Museum within the wider field of museum practice in Kosova, analyzing how processes of heritagization transform sites of atrocity into spaces of collective memory. By situating the museum in relation to broader debates on the musealization of trauma, the talk considers how exhibitionary forms mediate the tensions between commemoration, pedagogy, and political legitimacy in post-war societies. The Museum's Brown Bag Lecture Series is free and open to the public.
