The UMMAA, with the Collaborative Archaeology Workgroup (CAW), is pleased to present a roundtable discussion on social media on Tuesday, February 23, 12-1:30 p.m., as part of the UMMAA Brown Bag Lecture Series.
The impact of social media on archaeology remains only partially examined. This roundtable features five archaeologists who actively use social media platforms to educate public audiences about archaeology. The panelists will discuss their approaches to using social media and the views on best practices for outreach using social media. They will also explore how social media is changing the discipline of archaeology as it plays a more central role in the creation and dissemination of archaeological knowledge.
Participants include Raven Todd DaSilva, archaeological conservator, @digitwithraven; Connor Johnen, CRM archaeologist, @alifeinruinspodcast; Natasha Billson, CRM senior archaeologist and TV presenter, @behindthetrowel and @tash_archaeo; David Ian Howe, laboratory manager, @alifeinruinspodcast and @ethnocynology; and Carlton Shield Chief Gover, PhD student at Colorado University Boulder and Museum of the Pawnee Nation, @alifeinruinspodcast and Museums Unlocked and Site Bites Podcast.
