Next week, Michigan Sociology faculty and graduate students are headed to New York City for the 121st annual American Sociological Association Meeting. At the conference, many of them will be presenting the research that they’ve spent much time and energy preparing, while having the opportunity to connect with other professionals and expand their horizons through learning about other topics within and beyond their own areas of study. In addition to sharing and learning new information, many U-M Soc faculty and students will be recognized for their dedication to the field of sociology through distinguished awards.
The meeting will take place August 7-11 2026, at the Hilton New York Midtown and Sheraton New York Times Square in New York City where nearly 5,000 people will gather to share their insights and network with one another. This year’s meeting theme, identified by ASA President Shelley J. Correll, is “Disrupting the Status Quo: Putting Sociologists to Work for a More Equitable Society.” Read the full theme statement here.
