Conference Information: www.phonons2012.com
This conference brings together an international group of researchers from many fields (e.g., physics, mechanical engineering, materials science, and electrical engineering) who study the generation and propagation of vibrations in solids and their applications in heat transfer, thermoelectric energy conversion, sensors, metrology, and electronic devices.

The organizing departments are Mechanical Engineering and Physics.

Some of the planned topics are:
-Phonons in nanoscale structures and MEMS
-Coherent phonons and ultrafast acoustics
-Electron-phonon interactions
-Phonon microscopy and imaging
-Raman scattering
-Solitons and nonlinear phenomena
-Neutron and x-ray inelastic scattering
-Lattice dynamics
-Phonons in glasses and disordered materials
-Phonons in ultracold gases
-Phonon transport at interfaces
-Ultrafast phase transitions
-Surface acoustic wave science and technology
-Phononic crystals and metamaterials
-Phonons in electronic
-optoelectronic devices
-Optomechanics
-New computational techniques
-Phonons in single molecules and organic/biological materials
-Thermal phonon transport in nanostructured materials
