Jess Freedland

Jess will work at the LSA Opportunity Hub Navigation desk, providing support for incoming students, visitors, and families to the LSA building and visitors to the Hub. They are looking forward to utilizing their experience working both as a teacher and in higher ed administration to support Opportunity Hub student interns in their work at the Nav Desk, as well as to support the Hub's other amazing projects and initiatives.

As a former theater and then journalism major, and then freelance writer and editor, teacher, and higher ed administrator, Jess is very familiar with the paths that a liberal arts degree can lead one on in life. After graduating from Wayne State University in 2014 and moving to the Ypsilanti area in 2015, Jess eventually fell in love with teaching (a role they never expected to be in!) and moved to South Korea to teach English there for two years. When they returned to the US in 2021, they knew they wanted to continue working with students. They are excited to continue their career journey working in higher education and to support students in LSA as they navigate the beginnings of their own career journeys!
