Statement on Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

We believe that as a transformative career exploration center, the LSA Opportunity Hub has a responsibility to all of its undergraduate students, in collaboration with alums, employers, and campus colleagues, to provide support for career development that is inclusive of the diversity of LSA.

We are committed to empowering students to redefine professionalism, and to engaging employers and alums in creating environments that recognize and reward a real diversity of talents and perspectives.

We recognize that inequities in pay, promotion, and access to professional networks result from biased policies, practices, and professional norms. We refuse to accept that this should be so. Instead we seek to name as considerable assets the knowledge and perspectives that come with the intersections of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, national origin, immigration status, language, religion, ability status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, body, and veteran status.

Therefore, we commit to:

  • Increasing needed representation and visibility among students, alums, and employers of color.

  • Partnering with groups of students whose identities have been marginalized so that they have more direct access to our resources.

  • Employing accountability rubrics during each phase of planning, engagement, and assessment, in the effort to ensure a consistently inclusive, equitable, and racially just lens in the development of all Hub practices.
