Geometry Seminar

Random covers of hyperbolic surfaces and resonances
Monday, July 12, 2021
9:30-10:30 AM
Zoom Off Campus Location
In this talk I will discuss the spectral theory of hyperbolic surfaces with special emphasis on the infinite volume case where the relevant spectral data is given by resonances. I will then talk about some models of random covers and state some recent results where we were able to obtain optimal results on the "low frequency spectrum" via certain probabilistic techniques coming from random graphs and free probability. Joint work with Michael Magee.
