First proved by Gauss, the law of quadratic reciprocity is one of the most beautiful theorems in number theory, with over a hundred distinct proofs to its name. In this talk, we’ll uncover what quadratic reciprocity is actually telling us, and explore how it can be generalized to more abstract reciprocity laws.
