Academic Support 

Newnan Academic Advising

The Newnan Academic Advising Center supports First-Generation students by providing personalized academic advising, guidance on course selection, and resources to help them navigate and succeed in their LSA academic journey.

The Science Learning Center

The Science Learning Center (SLC) at U-M offers free drop-in peer tutoring and collaborative study group sessions to support First-Generation students—and all undergraduates—in mastering introductory sciences courses, such as biology, chemistry, and physics courses.

The Math Learning Center

The Math Lab at the University of Michigan offers free, collaborative tutoring and support for students at all levels of mathematics to help them succeed in their coursework

Sweetland Center for Writing

The Sweetland Center for Writing at the University of Michigan provides inclusive, individualized writing support and resources to help students at all levels develop their writing skills across all disciplines.

LSA Language Resource Center

The Language Resource Center at the University of Michigan offers innovative resources, technology, and support to help students succeed in learning and practicing new languages.

Financial Support

LSA Scholarships

The LSA Scholarships Office offers need-based and merit scholarships, emergency funding, and personalized support that remove financial barriers and make a U-M liberal arts and sciences education affordable and achievable. 

Career & Professional Development Support

LSA Opportunity Hub

The LSA Opportunity Hub connects First-Generation students to career exploration, internships, mentorship, and professional development resources, helping them turn their liberal arts education into meaningful career opportunities.

Mental Health & Well-Being Support 

Wolverine Wellness

Wolverine Wellness is here to support First-Generation students with free resources, workshops, and one-on-one guidance from Wellness Coaches (not therapists) to help you take care of your mental health, physical well-being, and overall wellness at U-M.

Counseling and Psychology Services

CAPS offers First-Generation students free, confidential therapist-based counseling, support groups, and mental health resources to help you take care of your emotional well-being and thrive during your time at U-M.
