Graduate Student Research Assistant
About
Cecilia is a PhD candidate in IPAMAA. Her research focuses on the visual culture of the Hellenistic and Roman Middle East. Her dissertation looks at the representations of the Syrian Goddess/Atargatis from the Hellenistic and Roman Syria to examine how religious communities of diverse backgrounds in Syria integrated the cult of the Syrian Goddess into their local environment, and how they expressed their own cultural identities through image-making and place-making of communal devotion. She is currently working as a research assistant on the Ancient Abstraction exhibition.
