Research—on the collections, through fieldwork, in the museum archives—lies at the core of the Kelsey Museum’s activities, stimulating exhibition plans and teaching strategies. Research projects are undertaken by the Museum’s professional staff, by University of Michigan graduate students (notably those enrolled in the Interdepartmental Program in Ancient Mediterranean Art and Archaeology), and by undergraduates as well. Numerous publications, ranging from the scholarly to the popular, have emerged from all these efforts. The holdings of the Museum, both artifactual and archival, also provide a wealth of information that may be of interest to scholars elsewhere.
