Fall 2026 - IS 501: Introduction to Communications in Academia

A 10-session course for U-M international scholars, researchers, faculty, staff, and postdocs. Offered In Person.

Meets: Thursdays 12:00 - 2:00pm (ET) in person, 955 Weiser Hall

Dates: September 17 - November 19, 2026 (10 meetings)

Required Course Fee: $1800*

Registration Deadline: August 14, 2026

This course focuses on the academic skills that scholars, researchers, faculty, and other academic professionals in all disciplines need to succeed in the academic community. Key course components include: 

1. Research writing 
2. Poster and conference presentations
3. Leading and participating in formal discussions 
4. Informal interactions in the academic community  

All participants receive extensive individualized instructor feedback.
