Arnold Arnez
Arnold completed a BA in Philosophy and Religion at Hunter College CUNY. He is interested in Indigenous studies, Latin America, philosophy and theory, Andean philosophy, race and ethnicity, and transnational and global cultures. He plans to work in Quechua, Nahuatl, and Spanish.
Hilal Bektaş
Hilal completed a BA in Translation and Interpretation at Hacettepe University and an MA in English Translation and Interpretation at Dokuz Eylül University. Her broad research areas include translation studies, film and media, critical race and gender studies, and migration and diaspora. Hilal is specifically interested in the (re)writing of intersectionality in women’s fiction, intersectional feminist translation, and the dynamics of manipulation and agency in literary translation practice. She plans to work in German and Turkish while improving her Italian to a research level. Beyond her work, Hilal enjoys running, solving sudoku, and sketching her memories.
Claire Breger-Belsky
Claire completed a BA in Theater and Performance Studies at Stanford University and a MFA in Literary Translation at the University of Iowa. They are interested in Yiddish literature and Yiddish studies, translation, Spanish and Latin American literature, Jewish studies, and poetry and poetics. Claire recently spent a year in Buenos Aires on a Fulbright researching Yiddish literature from Argentina and currently edits translations for In geveb: A Journal of Yiddish Studies and for the Yiddish Book Center. They plan to work in Spanish & Yiddish.
Anna Fahey
Anna completed a BA in English and French at Kenyon College. She is interested in romance languages, postcolonialism, ecocriticism, translation studies, and indigenous languages. She plans to work in French, Quechua and Spanish.
Shara Feit
Shara completed a BA in Theatre at Northwestern University and a MA in Jewish Gender and Women’s Studies at the Jewish Theological Seminary. Shara is interested in theatre and dramatic literature, Jewish literature, critical and queer theory, bible, and creative practice based research, and plans to work in English, Yiddish, Modern and Biblical Hebrew, and Arabic.
Paula Keshderian
Paula completed a BA in English at Berea College. She is interested in postcolonial and global anglophone studies; race and ethnicity; sonic aesthetics, silence, and voice; trauma and narrative; and forced migration and diaspora. She plans to work in Arabic and Armenian.
Manuela Pulido Gutiérrez
Manuela completed BAs in Music Composition and Literary Studies at the National University of Colombia. Her interests include Latin American modernisms and avant-gardes, comparative approaches to literature and music, critical theory, intermediality, and cultural history. She is also a singer-songwriter and remains interested in the relationship between artistic creation, historical experience, and social life. She plans to work in Spanish and French.
