Originally from Toronto, Canada, Madeleine earned her B.A. from Tufts University with a double major in Psychology and Classical Studies in 2020. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with Highest Honors in her thesis “Understanding the Athenian arrhephoria: female initiation rite or civic rite?” Madeleine then received her M.A. from the University of Chicago’s Master of Arts Program in the Humanities, where she wrote a thesis on the portrayal of Dionysian worship and drunkenness in Homeric Hymn 7. In her PhD at the University of Michigan, Madeleine hopes to continue studying ancient Greek religion and mythology, with a particular focus on the role of women in these activities and narratives. She is also eager to explore her interests in classical reception and museum studies.
