PhD in Classical Studies
About
Antonello grew up in Samnium and then moved to Milan for his BA and MA. As a PhD candidate at Michigan, he mainly works on the late Republic, with a focus on political agency in the provinces during the Sullan and post-Sullan age. After he received quite a traditional education as a literary scholar, his research now involves a close attention to numismatic and epigraphic evidence. Antonello’s interests encompass economic and administrative history and the study of political communication in antiquity, alongside the distortions of ancient politics in contemporary debate. Greek poetry and late antiquity are his guilty pleasures.
