About
Originally from a historic city Yueyang in mainland China, Chenyu was trained in the sciences during high school and earned a bachelor’s degree in E-Commerce from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (with a minor in English Literature) in 2021. In following three years, however, he achieved a second bachelor in Classics in Sapienza University of Rome (2025) and one year of Erasmus Exchange Study in Heidelberg University (2023-24). The pursue for classical antiquity drives him across countries and continents. Now at Michigan, his main interests include Latin philology, intellectual history (esp. Late Republic), paleography, and history of classical scholarship. Currently, he is exploring Varro's writings as a whole to reconstruct the lost republic against the backdrop of contemporary intellectual background. He is also an enthusiastic poet and translator with prizes and publications. Virgil, T. S. Eliot, and Zhang Zao are his favorites.
