Perusall is a collaborative, online annotation tool. It allows students to collectively annotate PDFs and videos that you upload, or e-textbooks adopted through Perusall.
If your class focuses on analyzing readings, collaborative annotation can form the basis of class discussion or work as a stand-alone collaborative project.
If you share your lecture slides via Perusall, students can add notes and questions to them. This could act as a class Q&A, and make the slides more useful as a study-guide. Remember to export or save-as a PDF, in order for Perusall to accept your slides.
If you have the video file available for upload, or if the video is on YouTube, Perusall allows students to annotate and comment on video. This is especially helpful when analyzing film clips or providing feedback on another student’s or group’s work.
To get started, read our Overview, watch our Getting Started video, and explore Perusall’s Content and Scoring how-tos.
If you’d like to discuss how Perusall might be most useful in your course, please feel free to request a consultation with the LSA Learning and Teaching Consultants.
If you have technical issues with Perusall, please submit a request for assistance directly to Perusall Support
