When we explore a new tool for adoption as an LSA license, we perform both data security and accessibility reviews. Sometimes, a tool will fail one or both reviews. The following tools have failed review. Alternatives are listed under each, and if those alternatives do not meet your instructional need then please contact the Learning and Teaching Consultants for help finding one that does.
Issue: Quizlet failed data security review for use by over-18 students.
Alternative: H5P interactive activity builder is licensed for any LSA instructor to use, and is integrated with Canvas.
Issue: Kahoot failed accessibility review.
Alternative: iClicker has group features that replicate much of Kahoot’s features.
If you wish to use a disrecommended tool, and believe that it has been upgraded to the point that it would pass review, please contact LTC to start the re-review process.
Remember that all teaching and learning tools need to be reviewed, even ones licensed at the department or instructor level! You can request security reviews by contacting LSA Technology Services Secure Computing. You can request accessibility reviews by contacting ITS Accessibility.
