Explore the World with RC Scholarships

The Residential College (RC) continues to offer incredible opportunities for students to expand their learning beyond the classroom. Building on the success of the 2023-2024 academic year, where RC students traveled to 14 different countries and took part in internships, volunteer work, and unique learning experiences, the 2024-2025 scholarship cycle offers even more possibilities for academic enrichment and personal growth.

Students who received scholarships last year explored places as diverse as the diplomatic circles of Switzerland and the environmental sustainability projects in Paro, Bhutan. They returned with life-changing experiences and a broader understanding of global issues, bringing new perspectives that now inspire our entire RC community.

This year’s scholarships include a range of options that cater to different interests and needs:

  • The Brown Scholarship for Students in the World provides up to $2500 for off-campus experiences, domestically or abroad. It's a great option for students who want to apply their education in real-world settings without needing to leave the U.S.

  • The Jean McGuire Language Study Award and Rose Silverman International Educational Scholarship support students who wish to pursue language immersion programs or academic travel abroad. These scholarships allow students to develop fluency in foreign languages while immersing themselves in new cultures—a transformative experience for any student interested in global education.

  • The Honeli Award for Student Engagement and William S. Blackford Scholarship focus on internships, volunteer work, and community outreach, with funding available for both domestic and international opportunities. These scholarships not only provide financial assistance but also encourage students to engage deeply with local and global communities, developing a sense of civic responsibility and real-world experience that employers highly value.

While applying for these scholarships requires careful preparation, including essays and financial aid forms in some cases, the rewards can be significant. Scholarship recipients often report that these opportunities changed their academic trajectories and opened doors to new career paths, enhancing both their résumés and personal growth.
