Support Michigan Physics

Physics faculty, postdocs, and students at the University of Michigan pursue a broad range of exciting research problems, from exploring the universe at the largest scales and uncovering nature’s smallest building blocks to studying new material properties, probing the quantum nature of matter, and turning fundamental physics discoveries into new technology. We teach more than 10,000 undergraduate students every year, and currently we have over 200 physics & interdisciplinary physics majors and around 130 graduate students.

As we strive to become one of the nation's premier physics departments, our alumni and their input remain incredibly important to us, as do their donations to our program.

Gifts to the department have supported:

• Research Activities such as start-up funding for new faculty or equipment purchases through the Physics Strategic Fund;
• Educational Initiatives such as undergraduate hands-on research experience through the Neal Memorial Undergraduate Scholars Fund;
• Graduate Fellowships to allow promising PhD students to fully focus on research for a semester or participate in longer-term programs at physics institutes or labs through the Graduate Student Support Fund; and
• Outreach such as Saturday Morning Physics (SMP) through the SMP Fund.
