How do I register for Oral Presentations?
- Students must meet with their research mentor to obtain approval for this type of presentation, ensuring it aligns with their project. After this discussion, mentors may contact urop.info@umich.edu for further inquiries.

- There will be 5 scholars scheduled during each 50-minute presentation session. Each scholar is expected to give an 8-minute oral presentation accompanied by google slides. There will be 10 minutes of Q&A with all the presenters at the end of the session.

Day of Symposium
- Check-in: All presenters must check in at the registration table when arriving at the Symposium. After checking in, head to the oral presentation room where you are presenting and check in with the session chair. Please arrive a few minutes early. Doors will be closed once the session begins.
- Session Chair: Each presentation room will have a session chair who will introduce each scholar, keep time, and facilitate Q&A. The session chair will hold index cards to announce when five, three, and one minutes remain, followed by a STOP signal indicating that the presenter has run out of time.
- Layout: The presentation room will be set up lecture-style with a podium and projector. The podium will hold a laptop with your Google Slides uploaded and ready when you arrive.
How do I submit my presentation slides?
- Once the mentor approval for symposium registration is completed, scholars will receive a link from the session chair to a Google Drive where presentation slides must be uploaded no later than Monday, April 20th.
- Final edits to presentation uploaded to the Google Drive must be done by Monday, April 20. Access to the Google Drive will be removed on Monday, April 20 at 12:00 PM. Edits to the presentation slides will not be allowed past this date. All final presentations should be approved by the scholar’s mentor. A combined google slide show for each presentation session will be created and used the day of the symposium.
How do I create my oral presentation slides?
- Oral presentations must be created in google slides for accessibility purposes. If short videos or website URLs are a part of the presentation they must be embedded into the slide presentation.
- Please review the following resources when creating your presentation:

I’m not sure if what I am thinking of doing is possible, is there someone I can talk to?
