A team of five volunteers—Cynthia Little, Lisa Powell, Sherri Smith, Gloria Gleason, Bradley Cross—directed by curator Carla Sinopoli continues to work on rehousing textiles at the Research Museums Center. In early May, volunteers got some help from Michael Galaty, Museum director, when he stopped by to lend a hand.

Galaty and collection manager Jim Moss rolled up a handwoven northern Philippine man's loincloth from the Owen A. Tomlinson Collection. (Tomlinson was in the Philippine Constabulary from 1899 to 1920. He was based in Ifugao, Mountain Province on the island of Luzon. Mrs. Laurine Tomlinson donated photographs, documents, and objects from her late husband's collection to the University of Michigan in 1979.)

Storing textiles on rolls rather than folded helps prevent damage. Rolled textiles are stored on special racks at the RMC. Read more here.
