Dr. Sergio Chávez, from Central Michigan University, will speak in the Whitney Auditorium (Room 1315, School of Education Building) at noon on December 13 as part of the UMMAA Brown Bag Lecture Series. Free and open to the public.

On Thursday, December 13, Dr. Sergio Chávez, from Central Michigan University, will speak in the Whitney Auditorium (Room 1315, School of Education Building) at noon as part of the UMMAA Brown Bag Lecture Series.

The presentation deals with the development of cooperative relationships with Aymara-speaking communities in the northern Lake Titicaca Basin of Bolivia. Dr. Chávez will describe his experience as a foreign archaeologist in Bolivia and the long-term benefits of collaboration for both the local communities and the interdisciplinary projects. Such benefits include the establishment of multi-functional site museums and a bilingual adult education program. 

The Museum’s Brown Bag Lecture Series is free and open to the public.
