Submitting courses not listed as transferable on the Transfer Credit Student Summary Report

Courses for which more information is needed

If you are required to submit material to have a course evaluated to see if it will transfer, there will be a be a note on the Transfer Credit Summary Report. Look for the following messages in the yellow box titled "Action Needed"

• Submit course descriptions to UACE@umich.edu to have the following courses further evaluated: the course will be listed.
  
• Contact the Math Department (https://prep.math.lsa.umich.edu/transfercredit/extinstfind ) to have the following courses further evaluated to determine if they can transfer as MATH classes: Course will be listed.
  • The math department evaluates all math classes so you have to follow the link to the math department's transfer page and follow directions on what you need to submit and how to submit it.
• Contact the Stats Department (https://lsa.umich.edu/stats/undergraduate-students/transfer-credit-evaluation-request.html) to have the following courses further evaluated to determine if they can transfer as STATS classes: Course will be listed.
  • The statistics department evaluates all statistics classes so you have to follow the link to the statistics department's transfer page and follow directions on what you need to submit and how to submit it.
• Contact the College of Engineering (https://tcaf.engin.umich.edu) to have the following courses further evaluated to determine if they can transfer as EECS or other Engineering classes (for non-Engineering students, refer to the bottom of the page): Course will be listed
  • Computer science classes are evalauted by the College of Engineering.  Follow the link and scroll to the bottom of the page for instructions on how LSA students can submit computer science courses for evalaution. 

Courses that are listed as Transfer General Credit: TRGENCR 101X: Departmental

In almost all circumstances, courses posted as TRGENCR 101X: Departmental are not eligible to be reevalauted. If a class appears on your TCSSR as TRGENCR 1ua1X and it is eligible to be futher evaaluted, the credit evaluators will include a note in the Action Needed box.      

For LSA General Degree Requirements

First Year Writing  Requirement

Submit classes to the Sweetland Center for Writing

• If you have a class that transfers as ENGLISH 125 it fulfills the First Year Writing Requirement.  You do not need to submit it for further evaluation. 
• If you completed writing classes that transfer as ENGCMPTC 101X: Departmental or ENGLISH 101X: Departmental that fulfilled the first year compositon requirement at your previous school, you can submit these classes to have them evaluated

Other General Degree Requirements

You can have courses evaluated to see if they will count toward the Quantitative Reasoning Requirement and the Race and Ethnicity Requirement but you have wait until after you have paid your enrollment deposit. If you have paid your deposit, the Newnan Academic Advising Center has instructions on how to submit these. 

For Credit toward your Major or Minor

Departments are responsible for determining how specific courses transfer and if transfer credit can be used for major and minor credit. If you have classes that transferred as Departmental credit that you plan to use for a major or a minor or as a prerequisite for higher level classes you can submit them to the department for evaluation.

Courses are evaluated by the department that teaches the class for which you want to receive credit, which might be different from the department of your major. For example, if you want to have a biology class evaluated because you plan to major in Neuroscience, you will submit the class to the Biology Department for evaluation.
