Where did you transfer from? Northeastern University
Why did you choose to transfer to the University of Michigan? I chose to transfer to Michigan due to the school's incredible sense of community and their school spirit. In addition, they have one of the top programs for my specific major as well as groundbreaking research opportunities.
Based on your personal experience, what is the one thing you want to tell new transfer students? Based on my personal experience, I would tell new transfer students that they should be proud of themselves for taking such a brave leap into a new chapter. Restarting somewhere new can be scary and overwhelming at times, but always remember how much courage you had to make the change not knowing what the outcome may have been. This decision shows bravery and strength.
How did you make friends and meet other students on campus? I met people through the transfer events held by the Transfer Student Center, reaching out on social media, and through my classes. The best way to make friends is to put yourself out there and start conversations with strangers.
What is your favorite part about being an LSA transfer student? My favorite part of being an LSA transfer student is how supportive the transfer community is. Coming in as a transfer student can be daunting and you can feel out of place sometimes, but talking with people who have a similar experience as you really helps you feel connected and seen. The program provides you with many opportunities to meet people and hear their story about transferring as well.
What do you know now that you wish you’d known before transferring to the University of Michigan? I wish I knew how many opportunities and resources the University offered. No matter what your interests are, there is a place and a community on campus where you can continue your passion and meet others who love it too. I specifically wish I knew more about the research opportunity and the UROP program which helps you get started in research.
Why did you choose your specific major(s)? I chose neuroscience to be my major because I am fascinated by how the brain works and all the neural systems that function on their own. I believe we know so little about it, and would love the opportunity to be a part of new discoveries.
