After a careful introduction to the physics of turbulent flows and their relevance in nature and technology, I shall focus on what we can learn from following fluid or inertial (heavy) particles in the flow. I shall also introduce the Goettingen Turbulence Facility, our cloud-physics experiments on Germany's highest mountain the Zugspitze, and the recently established European High Performance Infrastructure.
