Professor Trivedi will discuss some unusual phenomena in transition metal oxides, such as half metallicity and multi-orbital Mott insulating behavior. She will conclude with our recent predictions of novel magnetic states in d4 Mott insulators arising form the interplay of spin-orbit coupling and ferromagnetic superexchange.
