CM-AMO Seminar
Molecular Cinematography: Filming Ultrafast Chemical Reactions with Coherent Multidimensional Spectroscopy

Tuesday, October 6, 2009
12:00 AM
335 West Hall

Speaker: Kevin Kubarych (U-M Chemistry)

Ultrafast chemical reaction dynamics can be tracked in real time using structurally-specific two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy. 2DIR provides a sub-picosecond, bond-by-bond view of a molecule before, during and after a chemical reaction, while offering an exquisitely detailed picture of the system-bath interactions that are hidden in conventional spectroscopy. This talk will present our recent progress in both equilibrium and non-equilibrium chemical transformations.
