About
What do you appreciate most about the Hub and why?
One thing I love most about the Hub is that it is a student-driven environment. The Hub provides tools and opportunities to be successful, but it is up to students to use those resources to achieve their own unique, professional goals.
What did you want to be when you were a freshman in high school, and how have your goals changed shape since you came to U-M?
As a freshman in high school, I wanted to be an Embryologist. Although I have remained in the field of reproductive health, my time at U-M so far has shown me that I have a passion for connecting and working directly with people, rather than working in a lab. Now, I am on a path to become a Certified Nurse Midwife!
What is it about a liberal arts education that you've found the most exciting or valuable?
A liberal arts education provides opportunities to study anything and everything. Without LSA, I would've never taken a Women's Gender Studies class - a course that changed the trajectory of my professional future. I personally believe everyone can benefit from obtaining a liberal arts education.
What advice do you have for students for them to get the most out of their time in LSA and at U-M?
Based on my own experience, I would advise students to let go of control in regards to what classes to take and what specific areas to focus on. If you stumble upon a class or club that peaks your interest - take it! You may find yourself in a box with your future life plan written on it, I've been there too, but don't forget to step outside of that box - because it might not have been the right fit all along.
