Geneviève Zubrzycki, LSA professor of sociology and director of LSA's Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia, talked to CBC News about a new bill, signed into law on February 6 by Poland’s president, making it a crime to suggest that Poland bore any responsibility for atrocities committed by Nazi Germany.

Zubryzycki said that in countries outside Poland, including the U.S., Canada, and Israel, many people are concerned about the extent to which the new legislation could restrict freedom of speech and impede research. Zubryzycki is at work on a book about the current revival of Jewish communities in Poland and non-Jewish Poles’ interest in “all things Jewish.”
