LSA is a diverse intellectual community, working together to reimagine the world and create positive, purposeful change. We are committed to providing all of our students with a rigorous liberal arts education, exposing students to scholarly expertise across the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. We know our excellence is derived from our people–the students, faculty, and staff who live our mission on a daily basis.

Our goal is to support every student’s unique academic journey, facilitating students’ intellectual exploration and empowering them to choose their own academic paths. In LSA, we believe that the transformational power of a liberal arts education propels students

  • to explore different majors, minors, and courses of study,
  • to pivot toward new experiences and opportunities, and
  • to pursue any future job and career path,
  • with a commitment to helping others and leaving a positive impact on our world.

LSA’s network of alumni extends literally across the planet, a powerful community bound by shared values and experiences. Thousands find ways to stay engaged with LSA throughout their lives: Some interview prospective students, some mentor current students on campus, and some provide contributions that help fund important initiatives.

Philanthropy plays a crucial role in LSA’s goals and achievements. Without the generosity of our alumni and donors, our ability to support the well-being of students, to launch programs that foster student success, to address students’ financial needs, to provide important experiential opportunities, and to advance ground-breaking research and innovative teaching would be severely limited.

I hope you will join me in supporting LSA and the bold ambitions of the Look to Michigan campaign.
