About
What is your advising philosophy? Every student that comes to the University of Michigan has unique passions they want to fulfill in their future personal and professionals lives. My role as an advisor is to work with these students directly to discuss their aspirations and what paths would be most viable to reach their goals. I strive to not only help students look into the future, but also provide a welcoming environment to discuss current and past experiences the student may have.
What was your path to Newnan? I began my undergraduate degree at Eastern Michigan University (EMU). Due to the amazing experiences I had then, I decided to go on to pursue a Master's in Higher Education Student Affairs at EMU. Following my graduation, I had an amazing opportunity to work in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Division at the University of Michigan. After a brief period of time I relocated myself over in Ross at their Career Development Office. After two already amazing positions at UofM, I was fortunate enough to find my way over to Newnan.
What do you enjoy about working in Newnan? I enjoy working with students directly and hearing all the unique things each student has experienced. It is truly encouraging to see that many students here are excited about making a difference in the world. I also cannot stop without mentioning how supportive our office community is and that everyone is so willing to help each other.
Class you loved and why? COMM 226: Nonverbal Communication
The funny thing with this class was that it was my first class I ever in my undergraduate career. The class met at 8:00 am Monday morning, which would lead you to suspect that the energy would be low in the classroom, but it was the opposite. It was an eye-opening course to take in my first semester that introduced topics my high school had never really discussed. My professor also always came with enough energy for the whole class and new relevant topics to discuss every week.
Interests and hobbies: To quickly list several (that I am prepared to discuss at length): Sports (hockey in particular), video games, tabletop board games, Star Wars, and basically anything involving super heroes.
