What is your advising philosophy? Nothing is set in stone, if you start down one path, but discover another one, don't be afraid to try it. There is also no single path that everyone must follow, choose the one that is best for you.

What was your path to Newnan? I started out as a horticulturist for the University of Michigan, moved on to teach high school biology for seven years at Washtenaw Technical Middle College, and then started here in August of 2007.

What do you enjoy about working in Newnan? I love working with students and helping them navigate their way along their college path.

Class you loved and why? Woody Plants, taught by the late Herb Wagner and Burt Barnes, two amazing instructors. I loved that the labs were out in actual forests where we learned about the trees in their native habitats. This class gave me my first opportunity to walk on the mat of a bog, an experience I'll never forget.        

Interests and hobbies: I love biking, gardening, hiking, kayaking, and hanging out with my dogs. If I can find a way to be outside, then that is where I will be. If it is in the middle of a woods, even better.
