What is your advising philosophy? The purpose of academic advisors is to help their students take ownership of their exploration process.  I encourage my students to use critical thinking to question assumptions, identify their strengths and interests, and to pave their unique paths in academic and professional life.        

What was your path to Newnan? I have served in the capacity of academic advisor at multiple institutions over the past ten years, both at the university and community college levels.  Most of my advising experience has been gained at Arizona State University, where I served as academic advisor in the Department of English and, previously, the School of Sustainability.  I am a native of Chicago, but arrived to Newnan by a winding path that includes both the state of Arizona and the city of Seattle.

What do you enjoy about working in Newnan? I have recently joined the advising team at Newnan, but I have been deeply impressed by how friendly and supportive everybody in the office is.    

Class you loved and why? A couple of years ago, I took a statistics class, which runs counter to my academic background in the humanities.  I was surprised, however, by how much I enjoyed learning the fundamentals of statistics and understanding how these tools could be used to support social science research.            

Interests and hobbies: I love the street photography of Vivian Maier, and I spent my time in Seattle using photography to capture the vibrant pedestrian life of the city.
